Today included a little bit of sightseeing and a history lesson of the City of Nanchang and the Jiangxi province, where Tovin is from. Our short tour included the Teng Wang pavilion, which was built in 653 A.D. by Li Yuaning who was the Prince of Teng because he was the younger brother of the emperor at the time Tang. Since 653 A.D. the pavilion has been rebuilt 29 times.
There was a Chinese poem written about the Teng Wang pavilion in 672 that has made it a household name in all of China. Apparently this poem is one that pretty much every school aged child must memorize as part of their education, even today. The picture of the Chinese writing is the poem as it is displayed on the 5th floor today.
Obviously there is a lot of history throughout the country of China. We hope to, and plan to teach both Addison and Tovin about their heritage, and to be proud of where they come from.

9. He thinks his sister is funny, and always has a great giggle for her.
8. He loves to cuddle, is quick to snuggle, and is bonding quickly, especially with his momma. He likes to give and get hugs from her. I even got a hug or two today while we were on our walking tour.
7. He enjoys noodles, banana bread, and Nutra-Grain bars.
6. If he doesn’t like something he is eating, he puts his hand up to his mouth and the projectile spits it right past his hand.
5. He is battling a cold and is winning the fight.
4. He loves music, and dances to it.
3. He is ticklish all over.
2. He is quick to mimic and has a great little personality.

ReplyDeleteSo great to hear how you are all doing. Love the pictures! Addison, my girls will be jealous that you saw Minnie Mouse in China. How special is that! Your posts bring back so many memories. Nanchang is where we met our Christina 8 years ago tomorrow. It looks like the same smoggy, wet, and crazy place. Did you video tape the cab ride to Wal-Mart? This is a video that we have laughed at many times. It sounds like you are able to get our and tour. When we were there we were advised to stay in our hotel room because it was not safe. Glad to see things are better today. It sounds like you both have a good handle of what Tovin and Addison both need. The second trip is alot different than the first. You are doing great. Glad to see Tovin is bonding with the ladies. Watch out Jason, he will be a ladies man before you know it. :-) Take care. Good luck on the plane. It is a shour 2-2.5 tour flight. Guangzhou has a good children's hospital. You won't need it, but it is there.
