Tickling the Ivories

Addison loves to plunk away on the piano at home so we decided that we would have her start piano lessons with Miss. Shannon this summer!  It was fun to be able to listen to her and Shannon interact during the lesson.  If all lessons are like the first lesson, Addison is going to have a great time learning how to play!  During the lesson Addison told Shannon that she was able to "play" Jingle Bells.  I couldn't wait to hear her rendition of this great song, and I'm sure Shannon couldn't either.  Addison's version consisted of staying on beat by using one key during the whole song.  Of course she had to sing while she played!

Tovin had therapy at 8:00 this morning at Big Stone Therapies in Marshall.  Which meant that it was a very early morning for us.  Every Monday and Wednesday either Jason or I will be up in Marshall in the morning with Tovin.  He will be receiving occupational and physical therapy on Mondays and speech and physical therapy on Wednesdays for the summer.  We will figure out what he will need this fall by how he progresses this summer.

During his PT evaluation this morning he proved that he has a great ability to balance and to mimic well.  Even though Tovin was able to balance and mimic well he still scored very below average.  I guess I wasn't too surprised by where he scored, but it now is reality.  The very sweet physical therapist suggested scheduling two one hour sessions a week, so that's what we will do!  She also gave us a couple of things we could work on at home with Tovin.  His muscles have a lot of growth that needs to take place in order for him to catch up, so the squats along with the sitting-to-the-side while reaching for an object exercises she wants us to do will help start this long process that he has before him.  He has already come so far since we got home...he is starting to walk further and further each day, it won't be long before we won't have to coax him to try!
