We started our day with Tovin actually being awake for morning rounds. Even after a tough night of really not sleep much, maybe 4 hours total he was up and all smiles for the doctors. They are all impressed with Tovin chest x-ray and said that his numbers look great!
We then took a stroll around the block to say good morning to all the ladies. It's more like they say good morning to Tovin and he just smiles and looks away. One of the nurses was able to get a giggle out of him though.
Tovin then went grocery shopping and did the all the dishes. He had every food item and dish in his grocery basket at one point he even had the kitchen sink! He was walking around the kitchen with the grocery cart, standing at the sink washing dishes (that's cause he sees me do that everyday! - funny ha Jason!) and then reaching to put the dishes away, and he wasn't even out of breath! While doing all of this Tovin had a beautiful smile on his face the whole time! I could see how happy he was with himself, he didn't have to say a word the joy showed through on his face.
We are so grateful that we have the privilege to be this little guys parents! We get to see him grow up and accomplish these little things in life. Tovin has had a difficult start at life, but he sure is living life now! We are so blessed to have Tovin in our lives!
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.
James 1:17
After Tovin did all the housework for the other patients he started to itch his incision. We went back to our "suite" to just rest and take a shot of Benadryl. I figured that he would just relax and maybe (okay hopefully) take a little nap, it was a long night for the two of us! Tovin had other things in mind, and resting was not one of them! I was thankful that Mallory stopped by for lunch to help me entertain Tovin while he tried to not think about itching! Thanks again Mallory, your bubble blowing skills really became quite professional by the time you were done!
After lunch Tovin was visited by the music therapist here at Children's. Miss Erin is very talented and did a fabulous job with Tovin. She has a cart full of musical instruments for the children to try out. Miss Erin chose a couple for Tovin to play with. He wasn't quite sure what to think of her at first, but you could tell he enjoyed himself!
He is looking so tired! If he would just give in a take a rest!
It was now time for me pull out the big fun! Tovin is starting to get a little cranky due to the huge lack of sleep! I grab a couple of syringes from the supply cart, and sat him on the counter to play in the water! Thank you God for water - it save the day for us! Tovin sat on the counter for about an hour just playing and getting total drenched!
After a quick bathroom break - actually it's never quick. After a long bathroom break, and change of clothes we hit the block again this time as Buzz Lightyear!
Miss Kayla - Tovin's amazing nurse that he just adores - needed us to go back to the "suite" so she could take out his neck port. She ended up helping another patient so we started to play with the medical equipment she had placed on his bed. This is Tovin trying to open up a band aid wrapper with gloves on!
I can do all thing through Him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
We had time to play a quick game of Peek-a-Boo before Miss Kayla made it back to the room!
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Off we are on another stroll after the removal of the port! Notice the Tweety Bird band aid where the piggy tail lines were once sticking out! This means it's official I'm going home!
Tovin's day ended with a surprise visit from Uncle Jared and "Aunt" Stephanie! It sure was nice to see the two of you. "Uncle Jared I hope you didn't stay too long and had enough money for the parking ramp so you didn't have to use Aunt Stephanie's money! I don't think you were here over the time limit unless the elevators became stuck on your way back down or you took the wrong elevator again!"
Good night!
